FINAL DAY OF MANUFACTURING DAY EVENTS WEDNESDAY AT SMOKER CRAFT
Elkhart County, Ind. -- Over the past two weeks, nearly 3,000 eighth-grade students in Elkhart County have joined hundreds of thousands of students across the nation taking part in Manufacturing Day, coordinated locally by Horizon Education Alliance.
Nationally, this is a one-day event; however, because of the volume of participants, Elkhart County coordinates tours and activities over a period of seven days (October 1-3, 8-10, and 16, 2019).
Media are invited to join the final tour of the Manufacturing Day schedule with Fairfield Community Schools students at Smoker Craft in New Paris.
HEA has one final opportunity for media to capture videos or photos of student tours and interview business leaders.

Business leaders present: Peter Barrett, Senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Development; and Peggy Cronin, VP of Human Resources at the end of the tour; other facility leadership will be leading tours
Time: Arrive by 9:15 a.m. prior to scheduled student tours starting at 9:20 a.m. (this will be a two-hour tour for the students)
Points of interest: This family business has focused on water craft since it was founded in 1921 as Smoker Lumber Company, producing oars and paddles. These days, the more than 700 employees of Smoker Craft work to produce dozens of models of boats and pontoons for sale around the world. This tour will be the last of the 78 to take place during Elkhart County's Manufacturing Days.
