for Reversing Heart Disease®
GOSHEN, Ind., January 22, 2019 – Goshen Heart & Vascular Center now offers patients a unique, non-invasive approach to reverse cardiac disease: Dr. Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease. Commonly known as Ornish Lifestyle Medicine™, this innovative solution addresses the root causes of heart disease rather than just its symptoms, and offers participants another option — in addition to drugs or surgery — to take control of their health: lifestyle as medicine.
Grounded in nearly four decades of clinical research, Ornish Lifestyle Medicine is the first program scientifically-proven to reverse the progression of heart disease. Over 18 sessions, the program helps participants optimize four key areas of their lives: exercise, stress management, group support and nutrition.
This month, U.S. News & World Report recognized Ornish for having the Number 1 heart-healthy diet – for the eighth year in a row (since the publication began ranking nutrition plans). Criteria included ease of compliance, likelihood of losing weight in the short and long term and effectiveness against cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The Ornish program incorporates a whole-food, plant-based plan that is abundant in nutrient-rich whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes and limited amounts of nuts, seeds and nonfat dairy products.
Goshen Heart & Vascular Center is the only facility in Indiana and Michigan offering Ornish Lifestyle Medicine. The first group will start in mid-February.

Ornish Lifestyle Medicine is reimbursed by Medicare and other commercial payers for qualified individuals.
