“This course is a compact version of one of my favorite courses from my 25 years of teaching at Goshen College,” says Jo-Ann Brant. It begins by exploring why we might fear death and then moves on to discuss the tradition of the “good death”. Next we will reflect upon the rituals that help death be less disruptive to our lives and, finally, we will consider what the living owe the dead with an emphasis upon private and public commemoration. Jo-Ann Brant is professor emeritus of Bible, Religion and Philosophy at Goshen College. Also offered via Zoom.
