Everence introduces direct index investing option
Investment enhancement give investors more customization options

Everence Financial® is pleased to announce the launch of direct index investing, the latest enhancement to our investing options.

This option allows investors more control over their investment decisions by owning stock directly, rather than through mutual funds. This provides the following benefits:
  1. Track the appropriate index closely.
  2. Optionally use tax-sensitive investing strategies to pursue tax savings.
  3. Ability to create customized portfolios by including or excluding specific stocks.

“We are pleased to offer investors this enhancement to our Everence Asset Management investment lineup,” said Rod Diller, President of Everence Trust Company and Everence Senior Vice President of Sales and Distribution. “We’re joining industry leaders in providing investors with more customization and control of their investments.”

In 2023, Everence will add a new feature which will allow investors to tailor the mix of screens to reflect their personal or organizational values.

What is direct index investing?
Direct indexing is an approach to index investing that involves buying a subset of the individual stocks that make up an index, such as the S&P 500, with the intent of closely tracking the performance of the index.

Direct indexing can provide greater autonomy, control, and tax advantages to certain investors over owning an index mutual fund or an exchange-traded fund.

Trusted industry partner
Everence is partnering with Smartleaf Asset Management to provide direct index investing to our clients.

With 15 years of experience in direct index investing, Smartleaf has a solid reputation in the trust company investment industry. They offer us operational scalability and allow us to outsource the entire rebalancing workflow across all accounts, not just those utilizing direct indexing at no additional cost. This ultimately positions us for future growth.

Smartleaf Asset Management LLC (SAM) is a fully owned subsidiary of Smartleaf Inc, whose automated rebalancing workflow platform helps its clients deliver customized, tax-optimized portfolios at scale. SAM is an SEC-Registered Investment Advisor that operates Smartleaf Inc. software to automate unified managed account rebalancing and trade execution services.
