Acts of Service Answers the Call of Five Star Life in a BIG way!
With less than a few days before their campgrounds open, nonprofit Five Star Life was in need of help before the opening of their camp season. With limited manpower and time, the nonprofit looked to Acts of Service business partners for help. What resulted was incredible. On June 19th, five local companies within various industries came together with more than 100 volunteers rolled up with sleeves despite rainy weather conditions to give their time for the 300 acre campgrounds in Union, Michigan.
"To be a part of and see companies coming together to help Five Star Life in a time of need is exactly why Acts of Service was created. We continue to connect real-time needs with people in our community who want to give back and get involved. Some businesses even made it into a family event." said Michilah Grimes, Acts of Service Director.
Acts of Service volunteers from business partners Genesis Products Inc., Lippert Components, Inc., Specialized Staffing, Welch Packaging and KemKrest all banded together to help put the final touches on all areas of the property. They specifically helped by with weeding, cleaning, organization and camp set up.
"We are grateful for the organizations that participated with Acts of Service at Summit!  The volunteers invaded like an army, worked enthusiastically, and accomplished in two hours what would have taken our staff weeks.  The impact Acts of Service has goes beyond the physical projects that were completed, it's also a morale boost and shot in the arm for our staff as we head into a busy summer season impacting students," said Seth Maust, Five Star Life.
In addition to making volunteerism convenient and easy, Acts of Service allows groups or companies to set team goals, record and track collective and individual team member volunteer hours, and report their community impact. Now, this free site is available for anyone in the community. For more details or to get involved, please visit
FIVE STAR LIFE is an organization focused on academic success, character education, social emotional learning, and leadership development through intentional mentoring, purposeful programming, and proprietary curriculum. Working with students and educators throughout the country, FSL continues to act as a catalyst of change through its dynamic areas of programming which include: FSL Afterschool Program, FSL Video Curriculum for Classrooms, FSL Day Trips, Summit Life Leadership Camps, and FSL High School Leaders Program. Summit, FSL's 300-acre facility, is the national leadership training center for current and future leaders to come and be trained in FSL's Core Values (respect, responsibility, integrity, sacrifice, and courage) and programming methods through experiential learning opportunities. Using this approach, students, educators, and groups can come to Summit, be trained, and take the FSL model back to their communities all over America, thus continuing the ripple effect.

ACTS OF SERVICE is a web-based platform and social movement that makes it easier for companies, their employees and individual community members to give back by connecting with local nonprofits.
