CAPS -- Child And Parent Services is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse by valuing children and strengthening families in Elkhart County. CAPS has several programs to carry out its mission.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Staff and volunteers serve as a voice for children who are in the court system through no fault of their own. They get to know the child and people in their life, and make recommendations to the court about what would be best for the child.
Healthy Families/Parent Aide -- This program helps families with newborn infants by offering support and information to overburdened families. Home visitors meet with new parents regularly to coach them in the task of parenting.
Community Education -- CAPS is committed to supporting parents and teaching parenting skills to families in support groups and classes throughout Elkhart County.
Supervised Visitation -- This program allows the parent/child relationship to develop in a safe environment when the court deems it necessary for visits to be supervised.
Child and Family Advocacy Center (CFAC) -- CFAC is a resource to families and agencies which investigate and intervene in child abuse cases in Elkhart County. The center provides a child-friendly environment for forensic (fact-finding) interviews and assessments
