The Great Carboard Boat Race – Largest in the Mid-West - at United Way on Friday, August 24th, 2018
ELKHART, INDIANA, August 13, 2018 — Join us for our biggest and best Great Cardboard Boat Race yet and help United Way of Elkhart County kick off our annual fundraising campaign! We will have games, food trucks, a beer garden, giveaways, BEADS, and a festival atmosphere with tents, and a DJ. This is our 9th annual boat race and we have already set a record with the number of boats registered, help us beat our crowd and funding numbers as well.
Each boat is racing to raise the most money for our community and win one of the coveted trophies including a trophy for the most spectacular sinking. Teams spend weeks and sometimes months planning their boats and constructing the best design out of sheets of cardboard to take part in the race around the pond. The whole event gets people excited about the upcoming fundraising season for United Way which starts on the day of boat race and ends on Halloween.
Food trucks arrive at 11am and boats set sail at 3pm. The race takes place at Unite Way’s offices at 601 CR 17, Elkhart, Indiana in the LaSalle Bristol Corporate pond.
