Ever wonder what it?s like to take a breath underwater? Or what it?s like to be a fish? Find out at Shanklin Pool on Saturday, May 21 and July 2 from 8?10 am. Join dive instructor Greg Stone and other master divers who will be on hand to let you experience the underwater world. All equipment will be provided. Bring your swimsuit and towel and be ready to get wet. This introduction to scuba (which stands for selfcontained underwater breathing apparatus) is just $5 per day! Pre-registration is required at the Goshen Parks & Recreation Office by Wednesday, May 18 and June 29. For ages 10 to adult.

Red Cross-Certified Beginner to Advanced Swim Lessons: Swim lessons are offered under the instruction of certified instructors and their assistants. Classes follow the American Red Cross standards, focusing on levels of water exploration, primary skills, stroke readiness and stroke development. Class space is limited, so please register early to ensure availability. Adult lessons and specific stroke training are available upon request; call 534-2901 or 533-7616. Beginner lessons are for ages 5+ and are $55 per session. Swim Lesson Session Dates (All sessions are Monday?Friday): Session III.................. Priority registration for returning dancers begins July 5, and open registration begins July 18. Register at the Parks Office, 607 W. Plymouth Avenue, Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm. Session I classes begin August 15. Classes meet for 12 weeks at the downtown Goshen Theater. Classes will not meet September 5 or October 17?20. Creative Dance This is a class for children who are age 3 by August 1 and age 4. Class will focus on creative dance movement, including learning to follow rhythm, mirroring technique and improvisation. Dance Sampler A class for students ages 4 and 5. It will cover dance warmups, stretching and beginning technique for Jazz, Ballet and Modern. This class is great for children who are aspiring gymnasts, building ballerinas or for those who simply love to move with music. Pre-Ballet/Modern This class is for students ages 5?6. Class will combine classical and modern ballet technique. This is a great blend of dance for young students that will provide a fun and flexible platform of dance expression. Modern/Ballet Students will learn age-adjusted ballet and modern dance technique. Your child will learn proper body alignment and develop flexibility, coordination and grace. Your child will also experience applying their own movement thoughts to the art of improvisation. Classes will generate the joy of dance and appreciation for beauty, as well as build well-balanced, healthy respect and discipline. The difficulty level will increase with Beginning Modern II and Intermediate Modern. Modern/Ballet for Children with Special Needs This class will contain the same elements as Modern/Ballet. Students will learn the vocabulary of modern and ballet with sensitivity to dancers? needs. Class will evolve according to the progression of the class. Join our highly inspired and high-octane cardio and strength training program. This workout concentrates on motivating you while providing the basics, moving you into your best personal fitness while you have tons of fun! Each eight-week session meets outdoors at Rieth Interpretive Center, 410 West Plymouth Avenue, and will incorporate our new outdoor fitness park. Class meets for one hour Saturdays at 8 am and one hour Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:45 pm (class on Saturday, July 9 meets at The Women?s Retreat, 1135 Professional Drive). Kerry's Kids 12th Annual Kids' and Teens' Try-Athlon is taking place on Saturday, July 9, at Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Avenue in Goshen. This exhilarating event is offered to anyone ages 5?18 wishing to take part. With families, friends and spectators, this event draws more than 500 people to Shanklin Park on the day of the Try-Athlon. Our event is conducted much like a traditional triathlon; participants begin with the swimming competition, then move right along to the bike route and finish with the run portion of the race. All participants compete in all three portions of the race consecutively. Racers compete with those in their swimming status group, gender group and age group. This is a professionally chip timed race. Ages 5 - 12: Swim 25 meters; Bike 1.2 miles; Run 0.5 miles Ages 13 - 18: Swim 75 meters; Bike 1.2 miles; Run 3.1 miles Sign up now at the Park Office, 607 W. The Parks Office is now accepting registrations for Adult Ballroom Dance Class! Join in the fun of learning to dance to the Rumba, Fox Trot, Waltz, Swing and many more, all the while keeping fit! All ages are welcome. A perfect opportunity to prepare for summer weddings and events. Register with your friend, partner or spouse for our couples class or individually for our singles class. Two class levels are available: Introductory for those beginning to explore dance, Intermediate for those who have some dance experience and have completed our Introductory class. Instructor will determine dance level. Continuous sessions are available to use as further dance growth or to better serve your scheduling purposes; you may register for either or all sessions. Learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including equipment selection, how water pressure affects you when diving, planning your dives and safety. Upon completing the two-day course? or when a level of proficiency is achieved?participants will schedule four open-water dives with the instructor. Divers ages 15 and older who complete the course and open-water dives will earn PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open Water Diver certification. Individuals ages 10?14 are eligible to achieve Junior Open Water certification. Equipment will be provided except for mask, snorkel, fins and boots. These may be rented ($50)?or you may bring your own. Pre-registration is required at the Goshen Parks & Recreation Office. Class fee is $300, which includes the two-day course, four open-water dives and additional instruction to achieve certification, if needed. Classes will meet at Shanklin Pool from 8 am to 3 pm. Please bring a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, textbook and equipment to each class. All patrons visiting Shanklin Pool are required to purchase a pool photo ID for $2/resident or $3/non-resident. The ID is valid for three years.
