OVERVIEW
CAPS - Child And Parent Services is offering free training for both professionals and volunteers who work with children. A complimentary lunch will be served and seating is limited to 50 participants.
Attendees of this training learn how to recognize signs of abuse and neglect and the details on how to report it. Furthermore, the training will explore the impact trauma from abuse and neglect has on the health of our community, both physical and fiscal.
PRESENTERS
Justin Allen is the director of the Elkhart County CASA and GAL Programs at CAPS. He has been a member of the CAPS staff for eight years and was a CASA volunteer before joining the CAPS team. He is passionate about advocating for children in the court systems and ensuring that children in Elkhart County have an opportunity to live a life free of abuse and neglect so that every child can live up to their full potential.
Julie Reed is the director of the Child and Family Advocacy Center at CAPS. She began at the center five years ago as a forensic interviewer before moving into her position as the director. Julie has a degree from Saint Mary's College in social work. While attending school, she volunteered at CAPS and fell in love with the environment of the agency. Julie has a passion for working with children and giving otherwise voiceless victims a chance to tell their story.
